Sakho could be De Boer’s SAVIOUR at Crystal Palace, says ex-boss Allardyce

first_imgSam Allardyce says Mamadou Sakho could be the ‘saviour’ for Crystal Palace and their under-pressure boss Frank de Boer. The Eagles finally landed the French defender from Liverpool for £26million on deadline day after a protracted pursuit.Sakho spent the second half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park when Allardyce was boss and made a big impression as the Eagles succesfully fought their way out of relegation danger. Now Allardyce is backing the 27-year-old to have a similar impact under his successor De Boer, who is reportedly on the verge of being sacked after losing his opening three Premier League games in charge.Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Big Sam said: “The main problem again which was the same thing that happened to me when I got there is defending. That is the problem and Mama Sakho will hopefully cure that problem.“I think Mama Sakho could be the saviour, as he was for me.“He was one of the major reasons we stayed in the Premier League, as well as the other three signings we made.”Allardyce also reflected on reports De Boer has just one game to save his job.
