Lest we forget, Jalen Hurts is an absolute monster. The Alabama-turned-Oklahoma signal caller was a power lifter in high school. When he was in Tuscaloosa, he was recorded squatting a reported 600 pounds. He’s still got it with the move to Norman. Oklahoma just put out a video of Hurts at the squat rack, surrounded by his new teammates, and he does a perfect rep of what appears to be 585 pounds. In LOVE with the [email protected] #RareBreed #OUDNA pic.twitter.com/Tv4aGGTVDT— Oklahoma Football (@OU_Football) February 14, 2019Oklahoma is definitely getting a different kind of quarterback in Jalen Hurts. So far, head coach Lincoln Riley has thrived with pretty different talents behind center for the Sooners.Baker Mayfield was athletic, but it was his incredible precision that earned him the Heisman Trophy, and the No. 1 spot in the 2018 NFL Draft.Kyler Murray followed it up as one of the better dual-threats we’ve seen in recent years, though he has a big arm of his own. He also won the Heisman, and is a potential first round NFL pick, as it appears that he will pass up baseball for now.Hurts had a ton of success at Alabama, but he doesn’t have the refined passing of Mayfield or Murray, and he brings more of a power rushing element than Murray, as you may glean from that squat video. He will benefit from playing for Riley, whose scheme should give him plenty of open targets to work with. Hurts’ development in that system will be one of the great plots of the 2019 college football season.last_img
