Jaguars’ Myles Jack reportedly won’t face suspension; he claims Sammy Watkins instigated altercation

first_img Eric Weddle injury update: Rams safety enters concussion protocol Tempers flared several times throughout the hard-fought game that saw several injuries. Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles suffered a broken left clavicle and is sidelined indefinitely. Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill was taken to the hospital with a shoulder injury and will likely miss time. And quarterback Patrick Mahomes left the game briefly with a sprained ankle. The Chiefs won, 40-26, thanks in part to Watkins’ huge day (nine catches for 198 yards and three touchdowns). Odell Beckham Jr. won’t be fined for wearing $350K watch vs. Titans, report says Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack will not be suspended for his role in an altercation during Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs, according to NFL Media.Jack scuffled with Chiefs receivers Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson midway through the second quarter and was ejected. Ben Roethlisberger takes blame for Steelers’ blowout loss to Patriots: ‘I wasn’t good enough’ 49ers linebacker Kwon Alexander, who was also ejected Sunday for delivering a head shot to former Buccaneers teammate Jameis Winston, will undergo the same process and faces no suspension. After the game, Jack blamed Watkins for instigating the incident.“It’s a crazy and physical sport that we play and I just felt like that play was not a football play,” Watkins said. “I felt like it was a pass play and the receiver (Watkins) did not run the route. I felt like he smashed right into me underneath my chin and tackled me and got up and said some words to me, so I kind of pushed him and I got attacked from the back. At that point I felt like we were not playing football anymore but that is no excuse for my actions.”Looking back it was an idiotic move for me to do that because you do not get points for that. I’m a captain now and the team just extended me so I have to do better for me and my team.”However, Jack, who signed a four-year, $57 million extension earlier this month, apologized profusely for his behavior: “First and foremost, I have to apologize to my team and the city of Jacksonville because that is not how we conduct ourselves in any way … I felt like I needed to defend myself from the altercation that was going on after the play. At the end of the day, I apologize for that and it will not happen again.” This is what happened in the endzone.
